Query & Proposal

Query & Proposal
Query Letter & Proposal Assistance is for the moment you stop tinkering with your manuscript and start asking, "How do I talk about this so someone actually wants to read it?"

We begin with your materials as they are-half-formed draft, bullet points, or a query you've already sent out and suspect isn't landing. Together, we identify the beating heart of your book: who it's for, what it's about, and why it matters now. Then we shape that into clear, concise copy an agent or editor can absorb quickly.

For query letters, we focus on three key pieces: a compelling hook, a brief but vivid description of the book, and a short author bio that supports why you're the right person to write it. We trim the fluff, sharpen the language, and make sure your voice still sounds like you-not like a template you grabbed online.

For book proposals (especially for nonfiction), we look at the bigger picture: overview, audience, comparable titles, chapter summaries, and sample chapters. We'll flag gaps agents often notice-unclear comps, fuzzy positioning, or a platform section that doesn't really say what you bring to the table-and suggest concrete fixes.

We also talk practical strategy: who you're querying, how many at a time, what a reasonable timeline looks like, and how to interpret the responses you receive. Members often bring updated drafts back to the group or into our manuscript submission discussions for one more sanity check before hitting send.

By the time you're done, you'll have a query or proposal that represents your book accurately and confidently, and you'll feel far less like you're tossing pages into a black hole.
