Author Marketing & Planning grew out of conversations we kept having in the group: "I finally finished the book... now how do I find readers without turning into a full-time salesperson?"
We start with who you are and what you can realistically sustain. Not everyone needs a giant social media presence; not every book needs the same plan. Together, we sketch out a simple, practical approach that fits your life and your subject matter-whether that's quiet, steady outreach or a more visible public push.
We talk through the basics: identifying your ideal readers, choosing 1-2 platforms where you actually feel comfortable showing up, and thinking about how your website, newsletter, or local events might work together. If you already have some pieces in place, we'll look at them with you and suggest small, specific tweaks instead of sweeping reinventions.
Because many of us have navigated launches ourselves, we can share concrete examples: how a member used a library talk to spark word of mouth, what worked (and didn't) with local bookstores, how someone built a modest but engaged email list over time. We also touch gently on mindset-how to talk about your work without feeling like you're bragging, and how to stay sane when numbers move slowly.
You'll leave with a short written plan you can actually act on: a handful of priority actions, a loose timeline, and ideas for how to build connection with readers in ways that feel genuine. Instead of scrambling at the last minute, you'll have a clearer sense of how to support your book before and after it's out in the world.
